Everytime I meet americans they try to find a canadian accent or are surprised that Canadians actually speak english. Pretty funny. Good thing we learn the queen’s english at home. I tend to be able to pick out any american accents right away. A few foreigners I’ve met have thrown me off though because they’ve learned english in london- I met a german awhile ago who went to an english school in london and so had a perfect flawless british accent. Totally thought he was british until he told me he was german. I guess there are lots of english courses in London which would make sense - but I’ve seen all kinds of ads for them around Budapest. A lot of Hungarians go there to learn english too - must be good for business.
