So thanks to the record snow levels last winter, and the crappy rainy weather we’ve had in Budapest since, the Danube river is rising quite high. There’s a lot of flooding on the countryside however in the city it’s not so bad.

A few buildings close to the river have their cellars flooded but that’s about it. The weather report is saying that the Danube should be hitting record levels in the next couple of days. I was here in 2002 when they had severe flooding as well, and some of the roads were closed. They’ll probably do the same this time, as I looked at the river today and noticed that the water level seemed at the same level as the roads on each side of the river.
